La Dune du Pilat – the biggest dune in Europe. It’s only about a 40 minute drive from the centre of Bordeaux depending on traffic. This place is a must see if you’re anywhere near the South West of France.
It’s easiest to get there by car but if you don’t have one then you can get a bus from
– Bordeaux to Arcachon (the beach town)
– Arcachon to La Dune du Pilat
This is the cheapest way the only downside is that traffic soon piles up so make sure you set off early. No later than 9am, especially if it’s going to be a sunny day!
When you get there you can chill at the top and admire the view or you can head down the opposite side and sunbathe by the sea. But be warned, if you walk all the way down remember that at the end of the day you’ve got to get back up and over. Save some energy, it’s a real work out.
Once you’re there and have reached the top you could walk along the entirety of the dune with panoramic views of both the sea and the never ending forests. Another option would be to arrive later on in the day with a picnic in one hand and a bottle of the famous Bordeaux wine in the other to watch the sunset before your eyes.
Hope you enjoy the film, it does touch slightly on being a freelancer in France but I will get more into detail about that on another post. It was so much fun using the drone again even if I do say farewell to it every time it takes off.
